We Need You!

The Festival will take place this year on 24 June on the playing fields on Outwood Road, starting at 12.00.

Preparations are just beginning and more people are needed to help.  Please contact Charles if you could offer your services on the committee or on Festival day.  We need a new treasurer and we’re sure someone in the community might be able to help us with this role.  The programme is being compiled and if you want to advertise your business, please contact Margaret.  If you want to book a stall, please click here.

There’s just one week to go before this year’s Festival!  Have you got your fancy dress costume ready for the Parade?

There will be the usual attractions and stalls, funfair, BBQ, food and drink stalls, as well as lots of entertainment outside in the Arena and inside Hall.   Our local junior footballers will once again be playing in the annual football tournament and the Mayor of Stockport will present the shield and medals.

Finally, don’t forget the Festival Grand Draw the winners will be announced at 4pm, if you would like to purchase your tickets in advance, there is a last chance to do so outside Cafe Unity tomorrow morning from 10-1.

Join the Grand Fancy Dress Parade!

Come and join the fun!  The Festival really starts when everyone gathers at the Village Hall car park at 11.45am before the procession leaves at noon for the Fancy Dress Parade around Heald Green Village.  Fancy dress can be on any theme, with the Olympics being popular, but children usually have their own ideas!

Please come and join in – young, old, in-betweens, on your own or in a group.  The more the merrier!

The parade will be led by the Oldham Pipe Band and the 3rd Heald Green Scouts and Cubs will be decorating the float, kindly lent by Nixon’s Farm!  We hope there’ll be other floats and decorated vehicles.  It’s not too late to put a few balloons and ribbons on your car or bike and join in the fun.  For safety reasons, let us know in advance if your vehicle is taking part.  Community groups will join in the Parade and everyone is welcome.

Be at the Village Hall at 11.45am an you’ll be given a spot.

Parade Route:

Village Hall – Westwood Road – St Ann’s Rd South & North – Brown Lane – Meadows Road – Ainsdale Drive – Freshfield – Outwood Road – Village Hall

Come out of your house and cheer the groups as they pass then dash along to the field to enjoy the rest of the afternoon!
